Sinclair Hydroleca 8-12mm Clay Balls are a brown lightweight aggregate with a nominal particle size of 8mm 12mm. It has excellent insulating properties and is not affected by frost. It is non-toxic, resistant to algae, inert and sterile and has a neutral pH. It can be used as a decorative pot topping or as a growing media component and is ideal for roof top garde. Aids water management of peat-based growing media. Hydroleca. Water-holding clay pebbles. Produced by firing tiny clay granules at 1200oC, Hydroleca is extremely lightweight with a smooth attractive outer skin and a honeycomb core. As hard, ceramic pebbles, Hydroleca helps absorb water and then slowly releases it back into the growing media. How to use.. Use one part of Hydroleca to three parts of compost to make a lighter weight growing media. Hydroleca makes an ideal lightweight drainage layer. Spread a 5 cm (2) layer of Hydroleca on to the bench in the greenhouse and keep moist to improve the humidity.
